3 Things To Expect After A Successful Period of Fasting

1. Expect Spiritual Empowerment-

Isaiah 40:31

“But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah‬ ‭40‬:‭31‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

• If you are feeling spiritually dull, oppressed and depressed, there is a way to get out of that state of stupor- separate yourself to God- spend quality time with God. Deprive yourself of some fun things (pleasures) food, sex, friends- just wait/gaze on God
• Your strength will be renewed. Your vision will become clearer. You’ll have more direction. You’ll become spiritually agile again with vigor and fervency. 
• Wait on the Lord and renew your strength 

2. Expect To Be Tempted By The Devil.

Matthew 4:1-2

“Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.”

Jesus temptation was 3-fold….

• To satisfy the lust of the flesh- convert stone to bread to eat… meeting a natural bodily need illegally and in an unscriptural way. 
• To yield to pride – by proving Himself to be the Son of God
• To satisfy or meet the desire for wealth by worshipping the Devil 

Jesus overcame all 3 temptations using the spoken Word. 

Then God sent angels to minister to Jesus after He overcame all 3 temptations. 

Your own temptations may not be exactly as Jesus, they may just be in areas of your weaknesses as a believer. Quarreling, bitterness, malice, etc.

Be sensitive and wise so that you can overcome.

3. Expect a Promotion.

Immediately after Jesus overcame the temptations, He launched into His ministry – He was unstoppable till the end.

Matthew 4:23-25

“And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people. Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them. Great multitudes followed Him—from Galilee, and from Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and beyond the Jordan.” Matthew‬ ‭4‬:‭23‬-‭25‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Why did temptations immediately follow the period after Jesus’ fast?

I believe it’s because; the enemy wanted to drain Jesus of His new spiritual empowerment. 

Every temptation comes from the devil (the tempter) and it comes to steal something from you (John 10:10).

I believe that the period of fasting and praying brought Jesus power, clarity of purpose- direction. He got wisdom to launch His ministry. These are the things the enemy came to strip Him off. 

Every time we obey or yield to the devil; we lose something. Romans 6:16

So after you fast, Don’t yield to the temptations so that you can preserve every spiritual benefits of your time with God.
