Many times when Christians pray, the focus is to make a request, demand, ask for something, get any help. But prayer is more than meeting needs and solving problems. Prayer is communication with God. Prayers shouldn’t be one-directional, monotonous or a monologue, as communication is not complete without a feedback, so also is prayer incomplete without a feedback from God. Feedback in communication is important to ensure that both the sender and receiver are on the same page. God answers when we pray! We learn from 1 John 5:14-15 that God both hears and responds when we pray. So its okay to expect a feedback form God when we pray. In this short bible study video, I share 7 bible-based thoughts on how to get answers to prayers.
To ensure that our prayers are answered;
- We should pray to the Father in the Name of Jesus (John 16:23, John 14:6)
- We should pray based on the Word of God (John 15:7, Isaiah 55:10-11)
- We should approach God boldly and confidently (Hebrews 4:16)
- We should ask or make our requests in faith, without doubt (James 1:5-8)
- We Should be specific with our requests (Philippians 4:6, John 16:23)
- We should pray with thanksgiving (Philippians 4:6)
- We should pray with the help of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:26-27)
There are additional bible references to each point listed above in the video. And in addition to discussing how to get answers to prayers, I also highlight the importance of speaking in tongues in the Christian life.
Knowing how to get answers to prayers is necessary for enjoying a victorious christian life. Our Lord Jesus was Himself fully committed to a life of prayer. And as we see in this study, Jesus prayed even when He should be resting. Therefore to live victoriuosly in this life, we must be people of prayer.
Shalom!
