This is Part 4 of the study series; The Road to Financial Sufficiency in Christ. You can find Part 3 here. In this part, we consider the benefits of being an heir of the father.
Heirs of the Father
The road to financial sufficiency in Christ begins with the realization that we have been delivered from poverty and we have The Blessing. Yes, because we became heirs of Abraham through Jesus Christ, the blessing of Abraham is ours. Praise God!
Here is another good news; ‘ we are not just beneficiaries of the blessing of Abraham, We are Heirs of the Father!
Hebrews 1:2 tells us that God appointed His Son Jesus, as heir of All Things. And Romans 8:17 expressly tells us that because we are children of God, we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.
“and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. Romans 8:17 NKJV
Now, if we are joint heirs with Christ and Christ is heir over All Things, then we are also heir over all that the Father has. We share equally in Christ’ inheritance. Halleluyah! We are entitled to God’s money, God’s property, indeed everything that the father has is ours too.
What does the Father have?
When we read the account of creation from Genesis chapter one, we are informed that the Heavens and the Earth were created by God. Hebrews 11:3 confirms to us that the world was fashioned, put in order and equipped by the Word of God. Colossians 1:16, speaking about Jesus says all visible and invisible things in Heaven and Earth were created by Him. Now we know that creation was put together by the Godhead working together.
“For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.” Colossians 1:16 NKJV
I love the following portions of scripture:
“For every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. I know all the birds of the mountains, and the wild beasts of the field are Mine. “If I were hungry, I would not tell you; For the world is Mine, and all its fullness.” Psalms 50:10-12 NKJV
“The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein. For He has founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the waters” Psalms 24:1-2 NKJV.
‘‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘ Haggai 2:8 NKJV
All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.”
John 16:15 NKJV
So the world, the Heavens, the Earth and all in it belong to God. At the beginning God gave man dominion over all that He made (Genesis 2:15-20) and although the devil snatched dominion from Adam and became the lord of this world, now following Jesus’ victory over him, we have authority in the Name of Jesus to receive and take what rightfully belongs to us (1 Corinthians 15:27, Hebrews 2:8, John 16:23, John 15:16, John 14:13, Ephesians 1:22).
Understanding John 16:23
I was reading John 16:23 recently and 3 things came alive to me from that verse of scripture:
“And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.” John 16:23 NKJV
- There is nothing we need that the Father doesn’t have. I mean if Jesus can confidently tell us to ask for ANYTHING, then God is not uncomfortable or disturbed with anything we can ask of Him. He’s got them all.
- We have no business asking Jesus for anything in this Church age. He said we should ask the Father. And we have a good Father who knows how to give us Good Gifts. He will not give us stone in place of bread, neither will He give us snake instead of fish, He will certainly not give us scorpion in place of eggs (Luke 11:9-13). We can receive all we ask for when we ask in accordance with His Word because God honours His Word and all His promises in Christ are ‘Yes’ and ‘Amen’.
- The Name of Jesus unlocks every inheritance we have in the Father to us. So the Name is the Key to all we would ever enjoy in God. And like you will find in my article “In The Name of Jesus”, when we approach the Father in the Name of Jesus, it is as though Jesus came to the Father Himself!
We can enjoy financial sufficiency in Christ
Halleluyah!
Yes! we have The blessing; and so we are empowered to prosper in all that we do.
We are Heirs of the Father and all that the Father has is ours.
The Name of Jesus gives us Access into All that thr Father has.
………….
In subsequent parts we will continue to explore (from scripture) how to enjoy sufficiency in Christ
