Your Faithfulness is a Shield

“[Then] He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler.”
Psalm 91:4 AMPC

The RAINS are Here

Rains are significant because they bear a newness and freshness to them, especially after a period of drought. In which circumstance rains would indicate or symbolize a washing away of the old and regrowing of something new, something better.

When You See The Cloud

Winning faith is the faith that believes a thing, speaks it and takes actions towards manifestation of the faith proclamation. This is a way to put an end to the season of drought that has pitched tent around us for so long. We believe by faith that an end has come to the period of drought, we proclaim that the rains are here, and just like Elijah, we bow to the ground, put our face between our knees and pray, wait, remain expectant, check 7 times and over, until we see the cloud…even its smallest bit. Halleluyah!

Do you know that YOU can initiate a miracle? ?First, what is a miracle?
A miracle is a supernatural intervention in the natural course of an event(s).
we can initiate the miracle of provision and abundant supply if we follow and act on scripture.

There Is Healing in Your Hands

If believers are to lay hands on the sick to recover, then there is healing power in a believers hand (when used with the authority in the name of Jesus). But how best to prove this except by acting on it.

Like Fire in my Bones

Your Word is like fire in my bones.

Like a force moving the entirety of my being. Studying, meditating, musing on Your Word is my delight. And it keeps flowing; from one truth to another, from one revelation to another. Like an unending fountain it keeps pouring until my soul says ‘yes, it’s enough for now’.

Your Word is like fire in my bones.

I can’t get enough of it; when fully immersed in it, everything else fades. It keeps pouring, flowing like a river with tributaries merging and merging and merging, joining one truth to another, one revelation to another. My heart gets merry, my heart sings, my hands keep writing until I can write no more. Your Word, my delight.

Your Word is like fire in my bones.

Your truth; my hope and anchor. As sure as You are, as faithful as You are, the foundation of my faith, the substance of my believe, the rock of my life, the confidence of my believe, the assurance of glory and unfailing goodness. My life, my defence, my shield, my hope. Protecting, providing, preserving, …..Your Word.

Your Word is like fire in my bones.

Your revelations; like lights, shining so brightly into hearts. Lighting paths; leading the way. Refreshing and comforting; bringing peace to hearts as the wonders of Your works, the magnificence and magnitude of Your glorious wisdom unfolds.

Your Word; like fire in my bones. I cannot get enough of it. It is sweetness and joy to my heart. I am lost without Your Word.

Thank You Lord for your Word!

Jesus Took Them All

Now let’s assume that you owed someone $20,000 and you couldn’t see how you’d offset that bill for the rest of your life. Now assume again, that a good Samaritan, a philanthropist, someone who has amassed a lot of wealth generously offers to pay off your debt, and does so. Suddenly you are debt-free. Is it likely that you’d go back to your previous creditor asking to remain a debtor to him? Unlikely.

When the Doctor says ‘NO’….: Blog Post 1

I have been dropping my thoughts on this blog post for months now in my notepad. During this period, as you can very well imagine, I have many times substituted one blogpost title for another. This; ….”When the Doctor Says No“……fits just fine and I love it!

I will have to split this blogpost into many parts, because there is just so much to write on it and I want you benefiting maximally.

Let me start you up from the beginning…..

I trained as a Medical Doctor, I prescribe drugs to people who need it, I also take medications sometimes, so this blog post is NOT about whether you should go see a doctor or not; take drugs or not; have that surgery or not. No! “When the Doctor Says No”,  aims to show you a source of life that is superior to medicine, that out lives medicine and is immutable.

Medicine is important to human life. Doctors have devoted their lives to saving the lives of others. Doctors help treat illnesses, they help educate the public on preventive care. Ultimately doctors aim to restore or maintain health.  While it is possible that a lot more understanding of the workings of the highly complex human body and its reactions to disease and disease agents is needed, medicine has helped fitted the very complex human body into books that when picked up helps the understanding of functioning of the human body.  But I have personally come to the illogical conclusion that medicine is limited 🙂

For years my body was challenged with strange symptoms and the more I walked from one specialist colleague to another (at home and beyond), the clearer it became that the doctors had no answers for what I was experiencing. Even more annoying, was the tendency of some of them to suggest, that my mind was playing tricks on me as all my test results have come out okay and the medical examinations yielded nothing significant.  One or two of them said to me; ‘go home and rest, there is nothing wrong with you medically’.

Nothing is wrong with me medically?!!!!  How come a walk from my bed to the toilet seemed like a cross-country race? Why is my heart racing almost uncontrollably? Why the terrible feeling of weakness and dizziness? Why has laughter become a luxury to me for fear that my heart would stop beating? Why can’t I complete a sentence on the phone for lack of strength? Why is the ground spinning and shaking under my feet? Why the churn and frequent visits to the loo in one single day? Why can’t I look into my laptop for 10 minutes without feeling sick? Why has sleep become a scarce commodity to me? Why have I been ‘resting’ on my bed for days,….weeks, ……months as advised by the doctor  without feeling any better? Why are the pulsations from my arteries so loud I can hear them with my ears? Why are they throbbing everywhere?  Why do I struggle to breathe sometimes? Why all these strange feelings?

As annoying as the ‘Nothing is wrong with you medically‘ sounded sometimes, they were right; Nothing was wrong with me! And I say nothing is wrong with me Medically, Spiritually, Mentally and otherwise. I am Perfect & Complete. Healed and made Whole. I have the Life of God in me. Jesus Christ; The Life Giving One is alive in Me! Amen!!!

So this was my experience for many months…years. Doctors can indeed say ‘NO’ when they reach the limits of their learnings and practice experience. They can say ‘NO’; when;

  • When the health problem is not specific and does not fit into any medically known disease description.  Doctor genuinely wants to help but does not know exactly what to do as he cannot figure out what the problem is.
  • When the prognosis for your health condition is poor ab initio  and it’s not your making (Doctor thinks you are unlucky/unfortunate, but medicine cannot save you).
  • When you present to the hospital at an advanced stage of an illness with very bad prognosis (Doctor cannot help you now).

Let me just say here, that I don’t know any doctor that would intentionally want to hurt a patient. I have heard of a few unpalatable occurrences, but these are rare. Doctors are trained to save lives, so they would want to do all they can to achieve that.  When they say ‘NO’, then they must have explored all they know to do.

I bring you good news by this blog post; you can say ‘YES’ when the doctor says ‘NO’.  And the ONLY way I know to end up with a YES when a doctor says NO is found in Isaiah 40:8

The grass withers, the flower fades, But the Word of our God stands forever“.

Medicine is man-made, made out of man’s dedicated studies and understanding.

But man himself is grass!!!

“The voice said, “Cry out!” And he said; “What shall I cry?” “All flesh is grass, and all its loveliness is like the flower of the field”      Isaiah 40:6

Medicine has limits! Do not put all your hope on medicine.

I introduce to you the Sure, Settled, Immutable and Unfailing Word of God that Stands Forever.

“Trust in The Lord with All Your Heart and lean not on your own understanding”.    Proverbs 3:5

When the doctors say ‘NO’, I dare you to trust in The Lord with All your heart.

Notice that I haven’t said trust in your Pastor/Bishop/Pope/Spouse. These people will all fail you even against their best intentions. No, let me rephrase that; these people help build up your faith, they may even pray for you, cast out devils and demons, but you’ll learn that in the darkest part of the night, when it seems life is leaving your body, that you cannot chain them to yourself. You have to fight your fight of faith drawing from whatsoever they’ve taught you, and be assured that they are praying for you.

Lean on The Lord completely. Plant Yourself in Him. You SHALL live again. I promise you that.

In “When the Doctor Says ‘NO’ : Blog Post 2, we will begin to look at what we must do to get a ‘Yes’ if the doctor says ‘NO’.

My Love always…..

FOREVER HAVEN

The title, ‘Forever Haven’ suggests some kind of resort or vacation site that fundamentally provides an unending, ever-enduring safety net for its inhabitants.

Sounds absolutely alluring, calming and peaceful, if you ask me, considering the present global security situation.

The ‘Global Village’ status of the world has never been given more credence than now! Many thanks to the faithfulness of media houses towards dutifully disseminating a sense of looming global danger with all urgency! From reports of painful untimely deaths, resulting from bombing and explosion of an oil well in Southern Nigeria, to the news of a bomb blast in Paris, or the murder of a law enforcement agent in Dallas…. More than ever before there is a heightened feeling of tension and uncertainty. So, a ‘Forever Haven’ totally sounds soothing and comforting.

But let me quickly ask, does any such attraction or resting place really exist? Can any President assure citizens of safety and protection from current or pending world dangers?

I took another look at my Bible, and found a Haven created by God Himself! Jerusalem was a haven; a place of safety and refuge. Good for retreat, harbor and security. The city was situated on Mount Zion and carefully surrounded by mountains.

Sounds to me, like a tedious, wearisome and laborious project! Who built Jerusalem on Mount Zion, amidst rocks and mountains?

Apart from my childhood knowledge about how God’s six (6) days of dedicated labor gave birth to the World and all we see in it, my little personal Bible Study reveals that Jerusalem was neither built nor named by the Hebrews.

Dating back to the early bronze age, there was a Canaanite town called Salem, first mentioned in Genesis 14:18, where Abraham met with Melchizedek and offered bread and wine. Melchizedek was King of Salem!

Jeru-Salem is first seen in the Bible in Joshua 10:1. Israel conquered its inhabitants but sadly abandoned it for the Jebusites.  Thus necessitating a fight from David and his army to conquer the Jebusites many years later before gaining ownership of the City that would become the capital of Israel.

The Hebrews may have retained the name Jerusalem because of its strikingly deep Hebrew meaning.

Jerusalem is actually a conjugation of two root words; Yara and Shalem and together translates Possession of Peace or Foundation of Peace. Salem or Shalem means complete, full, made ready, quiet, whole, peaceable, perfect. Yara means dual (Jerusalem sits on 2 hills). Yara also means; to cast, to point out, to teach, direct, instruct. So Jerusalem speaks of a ready-made place of peace, security and wholeness where one is pointed to, instructed or taught.

For many days the following scripture kept playing through my mind;

As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so The Lord surrounds His people. From this time forth and forever” Psalm 125:2

When we backtrack a bit to verse 1 of same Bible portion, we get a broader picture;

Those who trust in The Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever”.

And Joel 3:17 tells us;

So you shall know that I am The Lord your God, dwelling in Zion My holy mountain. Then Jerusalem shall be holy, and no aliens shall ever pass through her again”.

Of course there are many other references to Jerusalem in the Bible that are absolutely exciting, but Wow! Wow!! Wow!!!, the above scriptures tells us that God situated Jerusalem on His Holy unmovable Mount Zion, surrounded by mountains.

Obviously Jerusalem exists as a place, a tangible landmark structure! Wouldn’t it be awesome if Jehovah sends forth Angel Michael to blow the trumpet to gather all His children to Jerusalem? Away from all the deafening and unpalatable ill news of misfortunes, mishaps and deaths?   I’ll personally like that 🙂

But as we see in Psalm 125:2, Jerusalem is correlated to ‘The Lord’s people’. As the mountains surround Jerusalem,….so The Lord surrounds His people!

I am yet to see any daughter or son of Zion moving around and surrounded by physical mountains though (Selah).

So, where exactly is this place of peace and instruction?

These are my thoughts (and I speak not by revelation knowledge)…

The only place of instruction and safety for the Body of Christ that I know of is in the Word of God (Selah).

Staying in the Word gives instruction and brings wisdom that guides from harm.

Proverbs 1:33 reads;

For The Lord gives wisdom, from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He stores up stores up sound wisdom for the upright, He is a shield to those who walk uprightly. He guards the paths of justice and preserves the way of His saints”.

And Psalm 91:1-2 reassures that;

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty”. I will say of The Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust”.

Every moment spent studying God’s word reinforces our trust in Him and boosts our faith and daily assures us of God’s ability and willingness to keep safe and secure whatever we entrust to His care.

Yes! The Lord surrounds us as the mountains surround Jerusalem when we make ourselves Jerusalem; a place of instruction and peace by staying in His word. And yes! We can enjoy this benefit of safety, security and peace forever, for as long as we stay in His word and are uncompromising in our dealings. We can then be assured of His Presence and His Power, always and Forever!

A Forever Haven is possible only in The Word, and can be enjoyed by all who has received Christ as Lord and personal Savior.

You can make that decision today. You may want to read a few of my blog posts on how to receive Christ; ‘Could it Have Been a Surrogate Birth? or ‘Dead Man Walking!’.

Love Always.

Except otherwise stated, all Bible quotations are from the New King James Version (NKJV).

Is the Problem with ‘The Book’?

Almost every time an appliance or machine stops functioning optimally in my home, my husband reaches for the manual first, does some troubleshooting himself before calling in the experts.

A manufacturer’s handbook (manual), helps us set up our appliances, identify and handle simple malfunctions of our machines and ensures optimum output and efficiency, giving us good value for our money.

I have had the privilege of welcoming newly born again Christians into God’s family and I do not fail to introduce them to the Christian Manual for a successful and victorious christian living-The Bible.

You may want to consider the Bible as The Manufacturer’s Manual/Handbook for man’s living assuming that you believe in the existence of a Man-Creator or Manufacturer. If you are more inclined towards evolution or some other theory about man’s creation, then am sure you’ve found a different handbook and the discourse here may not apply to you.

So, why did God give us the Bible (His commandments/words)?

The 10 commandments came into existence to guide and direct Israel’s actions which were becoming intolerable for Jehovah at the time.

In his second letter to Timothy, apostle Paul explains the purpose of every word of God;

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness“.  2 Timothy 3:16. NKJV.

If it is not already obvious, this write-up is borne out of my curiosity on why people are often reluctant to study their Bibles.

I asked a few persons about their opinion on this and got the following responses;

i. ‘there is no time’. too many things to do with so little available time’

ii. ‘probably, people are not clear or do not completely agree with what the Bible says in some cases’

iii. ‘the bible does not give a unified straightforward stand on some issues, and people whip up different dimensions of the bible to support their own perspective on issues.

Hmmm….

Interestingly, nobody really considered or conceded to a likelihood of people thinking the standards in the Bible are too high!

I recently learnt that people generally don’t want to be told what to do. So if the Bible is for reproof, correction, instruction etc, my guess is; people love the freedom of living their lives freestyle!

But are God’s words punitive, prohibitive or protective?  I think it’s all 3,  with an ultimate aim to protect. I believe that God considered every possible action of man in its entirety (positive and negative outcomes), before giving out His words to guide and direct man aright.

For example, when God says ‘Do not commit adultery’, I believe this instruction goes well beyond the physical attraction and sexual satisfaction one derives through his indulgence in adultery. The end result of a singular adulterous act can mean an end to a longstanding marriage relationship, disruption in the equilibrium existing in a home, or exposure to life threatening sexually transmitted diseases (condoms tear!), and so many other unsavory results.

But you know, God does not force man to do anything. He always leaves the final decision with man but admonishes him to choose life and live.  I can tell my young preteen not to spend all his time on games and TVs, because as a parent, I have the foresight of the crucial role hard work can play in determining life’s experiences. And I want the best for my child! I believe God deals with man in a similar way. But then, there is a limit to how much or how long I can control my preteen’s choices. His future experiences rests greatly on his present day choices.

Let us not be like the middle-aged highly educated diabetic man who refused to go to the hospital for professional medical care for fear of what results of hospital investigations on him would reveal. He’d rather die in his ignorance. He immediately reminds me of why the fool has deceived himself into thinking there is no God…because he is corrupt and have done abominable things! (Psalm 53:1). He is threatened by the Bible.

When an appliance or machine malfunctions, it is very unlikely that the problem is with the manual (selah).

He is in the way of life that heedeth correction, but he that forsaketh reproof erreth” Proverbs 10:17. ASV

Have a lovely day!
