Today’s Text: Ephesians 2:10
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
Ephesians 2:10 NKJV
God created everybody for a purpose. Yes! You were born into this world to fulfill a divine purpose; Jeremiah 1:5 tells us this much….
“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”
Jeremiah 1:5 NLT
You did not just appear on this earth. You are not a product of evolution. You are not a descendant and metamorphosis of some primate. No! You were created by God. And you were created to fulfill a divine purpose.
God created Adam and Eve and gave them the mandate to “be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it” (Genesis 1:28). You are a descendant of Adam.
But Adam’s sin and disobedience corrupted his original nature – in which he was made in God’s image and likeness (Genesis 1:26-27). The result of Adam’s sin was spiritual death; a disconnection from God’s Spirit and an inability to fulfill God’s purpose as God intended.
Unfortunately, Adams sin and its consequent spiritual death didn’t just stay with Adam, no, sin and spiritual death spread to all mankind. (Romans 5:15, Romans 5:18-19, Romans 6:23, 1 Corinthians 15:22).
“Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—”
Romans 5:12 NKJV
The Good News?
Just as Adam’s disobedience brought sin and spiritual death, even so Jesus’ obedience to die on the cross and pay the ransom for mankind, brings righteousness and life…
“Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.”
Romans 5:18-19 NLT

What Is The Significance of This Rebirth to the Fulfillment of Your Divine Purpose?
You need the Holy Spirit to fulfill your divine purpose. Our Lord Jesus who operated as a Man on earth, fulfilled His heavenly mandate because He was anointed with the Holy Ghost (Acts 10:38). Likewise, in order to fulfill your God-given purpose, you need the empowerment of the Holy Ghost (Luke 24:49, Acts 1:8). The Holy Spirit will not just empower you, He will also teach, lead, guide and help you (Romans 8:14, John 14:16, John 14:26).
But you cannot have the Holy Spirit unless your old Adamic sinful nature is recreated- you cannot put new wine in old wine skins (Luke 5:37-39, John 3:1-7).
That’s why our text today is a celebratory statement or assertion….
“For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].”
Ephesians 2:10 AMPC
When you confess Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life, you become a new creature in Christ- your old Adamic nature is done away with. And in this new state of rebirth, you can receive the Holy Spirit- the Empowerment for Fulfilling every Godly mandate.
