The Bible conveys that persistent prayers eventually result in victory.
James 5:16 is a well known Bible verse on the power of effective persistent prayers.
“……. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) is able to accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].”
James 5:16 AMP
In Luke chapter 11, Jesus teaches the disciples how to pray. The beginning verses of the chapter contains The Lord’s Prayer; a simple guide to prayer provided by Jesus.
From verse 5 of Luke chapter 11, Jesus shares with His disciples how Persistence in prayers is effective and essential for answered prayers. He uses the example of someone in need who shows up at a friend’s door late at night asking for bread to entertain some visitors who showed up in his house. Jesus states that even if the friend doesn’t respond to the person in need based on their relationship, however, the person’s persistent asking, can make the friend respond positively and give him what he wants.
“I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him anything just because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence and boldness he will get up and give him whatever he needs.”
Luke 11:8 AMP
This example strongly communicates how persistent prayers results in answered prayers. It also shows that this level of insistence has the power to override even the bond of friendship or relationships.
Jesus shares a similar example on the power of persistent prayers in Luke 18:1-8. An unjust judge is persuaded to act against his natural tendencies and grant a widow justice because of her persistent request. God is just and a good Father, so He is inclined to respond to His children if they do not give up in prayer.
Whatever you’re asking God for, believe that you receive and hold fast. Don’t give up. As long as you’ve prayed right, hold on. Effective prayers, are prayers made to God the Father in the name of Jesus (John 16:23). Basing our Prayers on the Word of God guarantees answers. And when we pray in the Spirit, with the help of the Holy Spirit, we pray the perfect will of God (Romans 8:26).
Don’t stop asking, for God always answers prayers !
“For everyone who keeps on asking [persistently], receives; and he who keeps on seeking [persistently], finds; and to him who keeps on knocking [persistently], the door will be opened.”
Luke 11:10 AMP
