Who is a neighbor? A neighbor is a Good Samaritan.
A neighbor is a person living next door to, or very near to someone.
The Vine’s dictionary defines a neighbor as someone living in the same land as another. The Strong’s concordance describes a neighbor as someone living in the same land, and likely adjoining one’s grounds. It also denotes a friend.
What makes a good neighbor?
“You shall love your neighbor as yourself”- Mark 12: 31.
A Good Neighbor is The Good Samaritan
From the story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37), the Lord Jesus describes a neighbor as anyone who is compassionate and helpful to someone in need. Meaning that “my neighbor” doesn’t necessarily have to live anywhere near me neither does there need to be a geographical proximity between neighbors. Good deeds can be done from the farthest distance.
Are you a neighbor? Are you a Good Samaritan?
Everyday presents us with an opportunity to be good neighbors. Whether we qualify as one or not is seen in what we do, not in what we say or how we feel.
Love Your neighbor As Yourself
“…..You shall love your neighbor as yourself…..”. Mark 12:31 NKJV
The New Testament commandment is the commandment of LOVE- to love God and to love man.
“Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”Mark 12:29-31.
Biblically recommended disposition from a neighbor is the attitude and life of love. A neighbor is a Good Samaritan- selfless, compassionate and helpful. A neighbor is a love agent.
Amen!
