What kind of heart do you have? Is your heart full of good treasure or is it laden with evil treasure?
Luke chapter 5 verse 44 reads;
“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” Luke 5:44
Notable points from text
- Your mouth will speak your dominant thoughts
- Your thoughts reveal the state of your mind
- Good words flow naturally from a heart filled with good
- Bad words flow naturally from a heart filled with evil
The natural mind of a man is full of evil and is desperate to express evil and wickedness (Jeremiah 17:9).
Hence Jesus teaches us how to identify false prophets and teachers not just by what they say but by their natural unguided actions. When they’re unguided, not pretending, you see the real person. Evil expressions will flow from their evil min.
“When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.”
Galatians 5:19-21 NLT
What kind of fruit are you yielding?
What fruits are you communicating through your words and actions ?
As a Christian, it’s important to know that you have a new nature in Christ Jesus. So, stop falling back to the old man. Your mind needs to be controlled to reflect your new nature. And you do that by the renewal of your mind with the Word of God.
