Contentment is satisfaction with what someone has, it also means sufficiency and self-satisfaction.
From 2 Corinthians 3:5 and Philippians 4:11-13, we learn that as Christians our sufficiency is of God and so contentment for us is independent of our possessions and a lack of it.
We learn from Apostle Paul in 1 Timothy 6:6, that it is beneficial, profitable, and a gain to mix a life of godliness with contentment. This sort of living is like a procurement. Wealth, ‘money-getting’.
Some of the gains and benefits of contentment we can tease from scripture including 1 Timothy 6:6-10 are; preservation of our faith/belief, protection of our joy/peace and protection from covetousness.
To imbibe and enjoy a life of contentment as Christians, we must learn to check our desires and put them under control, we must learn to be thankful for the little (basic) things of life which God generously supplies to those who love and walk according to His word, we must be confident, assured that God in His faithfulness will supply all our needs, and we must by faith ask and believe God for the things we desire.
To enjoy everything God has made available to us in Christ Jesus, we must walk by faith, and mix faith with patience.
Praise the Lord!
