“For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.”
Mark 11:23 NKJV
You have probably read Mark 11:23 ten times and over, I have.
You may have also probably written out Word-based faith confessions from this scripture, I have.
You also may have taken bold faith steps inspired by Mark 11:23, I have too.
Question: ‘what else is there to learn from Mark 11:23?’
…… ‘Say WHAT You Want’….
When we take another look at Mark 11:23-24; we see the mechanics of faith explained in Mark 11:22-23………
▪️Believe it….
▪️Say it…..
▪️Receive it (have it).
Notice also, how Jesus said we are to handle every mountain (challenge)- SPEAK DIRECTLY to it… ‘mountain, be removed and cast into the sea’….
While this may seem like nothing, it is actually very important.
Many times as Christians we prefer to go ’round’ a ‘mountain’ rather than SPEAK DIRECTLY to it.
For example…: “by His Stripes we were healed” is a scripture upon which to SAY…..
▪️’I speak to you my brain cells that you function perfectly well, I read, understand, retain and remember the things I read in Jesus name, because I believe that surely He bore my griefs, He carried my sorrows, He was wounded for my transgressions and bruised for my iniquities and by His stripes I am healed.’
What I want when I say that is for my brain to reset and start functioning properly as God designed it.
Mark 11:24 reads;
“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”
Mark 11:24 NKJV
According to Jesus, when I SAY what I want (in faith-based on God’s Word), I SHALL Have what I Say.
I Believe Jesus’s Word!
Jesus said we should Say (talk directly) to the mountain “be removed and be cast into the sea“.
If we only keep saying
▪️‘this too shall pass’,
▪️‘I know that God is faithful,
▪️’it is well’ etc..
While these sound good, notice that these phrases/sentences do NOT speak DIRECTLY to any mountain (selah).
If we go to God in prayer with nonspecific requests, we seem like a young man who goes before his wealthy father, showering him with encomiums.. “daddy, I know that you are very wealthy, you own company ABC, you own a fleet of cars, you are rich, generous and kind, blablabla“. I believe that at some point, this rich, generous and kind father will interrupt his son with a ‘what do you want?, say it’.
In John 16:23, Jesus gives us the assurance that the Father will give to us WHATEVER we ask for in His name. Asking in the name of Jesus presupposes that we would ask according to God’s will/word.
Dear friend, today, based on the Word of God of you know, SAY WHAT YOU WANT, speak directly to that challenge.
And do not doubt in your heart, only believe, and you shall have what you Say.
