Miracles are God’s way of helping man’s believe. Manifestations of the Spirit are simply that- Manifestations; …..actions, events or occurrences that are intented to reveal or communicate something considered abstract or theoretical.
In John 20:29-31, we read that the accounts of the works and ministry of Christ were recorded so that those who read it might believe. And in Matthew 11:21, Jesus lamented over Chorazin, Bethsaida because despite the great works done among them, they refused to repent and believe.
So in essence, miracles and other manifestations of the Spirit occur primarily to communicate, embody and, if you like, evidence the existence of God so that man might SEE, BELIEVE and EMBRACE God. These miraculous works of God should also boost our faith whenever we feel low or unsure of our belief.
Now, as much as God generously sends us miracles in order to aid believe and to do us good, Jesus says it is more blessed to Believe Without Seeing.
What does it mean to ‘Believe Without Seeing?’ ….
We find the answer to this question in Hebrews 11:1….
“Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.“
Hebrews 11:1 NLT
When we believe, speak and act in line with God’s Word in any area of life without any physical evidence, we are operating in faith. And according to Jesus, this is a more BLESSED way to live than to be waiting to SEE some miraculous moves of God before believing (John 20:29)
Why is this so?
Well, one thing about manifestations of the Spirit is that though they aim to reveal God to man and to also do man good, they occur at the instance or initiation of the Spirit of God. The implication of this is that someone’s experience of the mightiness of God through miracles is dependent on God: God will move when He wants to. In contrast, operating in faith, puts an individual in control of his destiny as He can at any time choose to believe even without seeing any physical evidence.
Someone might say; ‘Grace, from what you’ve said so far both the miracles and faith ultimately depend on God’ and I’d say; ‘that’s correct’. The additional twist to that however is that faith ALWAYS pleases God (Hebrews 11:6). Halleluyah!
Now why is this good news?
It is good news because God will always be moved to act when we operate by faith in His Word, and this is so because God is bound by His Word. See Isaiah 55:11 and Hebrews 6:18….
“So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.“
Isaiah 55:11 AMPC
“These two things cannot change: God cannot lie when he says something, and he cannot lie when he makes an oath. So these two things are a great help to us who have come to God for safety. They encourage us to hold on to the hope that is ours.”
Hebrews 6:18 ERV
This means that, every time we walk the faith path, operating based on God’s Word, we are assured to experience the faithfulness of God- that God is True to His Word, He is Reliable and Dependable.
Dear friend, it is more Blessed to BELIEVE without Seeing. The faith life is a more beneficial pathway to experiencing God than living in expectation of a miracle which is mostly out of man’s control.
Experience God’s awesome power in your life today by choosing to believe before seeing.
Choose faith- believe, speak and act in line with God’s Word and you will See His mighty works.
