All of God’s promises in Christ are YES and Amen! And God has given us exceeding great and precious promises (not little, medium, average or mediocre promises). God wills for us to have the best in life. I often wonder why He chose Canaan as an inheritance for His people Israel. Canaan was a rich land; a land flowing with Milk and Honey. According to Deuteronomy 1:8, all the people needed to was to take the land that was already theirs…
“See, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land which the Lord swore to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—to give to them and their descendants after them.” Deuteronomy 1:8
God wants the best for you. You can be the best in your area of business, in your studies, workplace, career pursuits. Your children can be the best among their peers, because in Christ Jesus they have and can enjoy an excellent spirit. Your marriage can be blissful because God said it is not good for a man to be alone, meaning marriage is a good thing. You can insist on God’s best for your health because by the stripes of Jesus you were healed.
Just like God said to Israel concerning Canaan; Take The Land! Possess what has already been given to you.
Don’t Be Afraid of The Giants, Trust in The Lord, Go for The Land
Although God said He’s given Israel the land of Canaan, Israel still had to fight the giants in the land in order to possess it. So if you are reading this and thinking; ‘Grace, I really want to be the best I can be but I am facing too much opposition and difficulty in trying to enjoy God’s best for me. If only God also took away the difficulties and challenges as He gave me the promises, then I’d be having a better time‘.
Well, I regret to inform you that God will not take away your difficulties or challenges. It was no mistake that God gave Israel Canaan, a land originally belonging to the sons of Anak. According to Numbers 13: 32-33, the sons of Anak were GIANTS; which made the Israeli spies look like grasshoppers! God could have cleared the giants from the land Himself but He didn’t. His instruction was to go possess the land He’s already given.
You become stronger and wiser and better equipped with every opposition, challenge or difficulty you overcome. Troubles, afflictions, pressures produce patience, then character and unfailing hope(Romans 5:3-4).
Do not fear the gaints, focus on the land, on your God-given vision, dream, ministry. Focus on God’s promises, keep your eyes on the blessing. Focus on what God is focusing on; Take The Land.
You Can Take The Land Because You Have the Spirit of Christ
Unlike the other spies, Caleb was not intimidated by the giants. He was distiguished from the rest of the spies because He had a Different spirit and he FOLLOWED God fully (Numbers 14:23-24).
Do you know that as a child of God you have a different spirit? You have the spirit of Christ (I Corinthians 6:17), the Spirit that conquered and overcame all, the spirit of faith.
To overcome the giants (difficulties and oppositions), you must stir up the spirit of faith in you and FULLY follow the Lord’s leading.
How Do You Take the Land?
When you have to overcome unfriendly giants, you must fight to live or else die. The fact that God has given you the land, and you have the spirit of Christ, does not mean you don’t have to fight to possess the land. You can be a carrier of the blessing yet your life seems like a daily struggle with poverty and sickness.
