“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding” Proverbs 3:5 NKJV
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, to trust is… – “to have an assured reliance on the character, ability, strength or truth of someone or something. To place confidence in someone and to be dependent on someone“.
When you trust someone, you believe them even if you don’t fully understand their actions. You somewhat (temporarily) suspend your intellect (thinking, reasoning, understanding) and go with what they say.
To trust God is to totally lean on Him. It means to be sure or confident of the Lord’s ability to bring a good end.
When God told Abraham to leave his homeland for an unknown destination, he obeyed and did as He was told. Without a clear understanding of where God was leading him or what God was doing, Abraham Trusted and Obeyed. He submitted his life to God’s control and leading. He accepted the Word of God as true in his spirit and he judged God as Capable and Reliable. Abraham had faith in God’s Word and he trusted in God’s ability.
We can learn 2 important things about trust from Abraham; Obedience and Reliance.
Irrespective of all the chaos, uncertainty and challenges we wake up to in this world, God wants us to trust Him; to rely on Him, to judge Him faithful. He wants us to accept His Word as true and to let the Word chart our life’s course.
There’s a level of ‘carelessness‘ you exhibit towards life’s challenges when you trust God. This is borne out of a confident assurance that God works everything together for your good. His plans for you are only good plans. So you choose to enjoy a peaceful sleep in the midst of the storm.
As believers it is necessary that we do not so often fall into the trap of trying to figure everything out ourselves or of trying to fix everything by ourselves. To enjoy the peace that Jesus gives, we need to learn to trust in the Lord.
Dear friend, pronounce God’s Word over that situation, take corresponding actions as led by the Spirit, and then Trust in the Lord. God will bring a good end.
God will surely bring a good end, be still.
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!“
Psalms 46:10 NKJV
