In the Parable of the Sower of Luke chapter 8, Jesus described 4 kinds of soils; rocky soil, thorny soil, wayside soil, and good soil. Each of these soil types represents different responses by different groups of people to the Word of God.
I shared my thoughts on this parable in my article; “Good Seed Sown on Good Soil“. It is an interesting article that will bless you immensely. Please read it ?
My interest today is in what Jesus said in verse 11;
“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God”.
The Word of God is SEED.
I looked up some definitions of ‘Seed’ and here’s what I found from the Merriam-Webster dictionary…..
“the fertilized ripened ovule of a flowering plant containing an embryo and capable normally of germination to produce a new plant”
“the grains or ripened ovules of plants used for sowing.“
“a propagative plant structure (such as a spore or small dry fruit”
Anything that is sown or propagated is expected to grow. So a seed is expected to yield a crop or something.
Notice then the striking commonality between the definitions above:- that a seed has the ability to reproduce independently. That is to say that a seed has an intrinsic ability to transform into a full plant of its own kind (given the right soil).
The word of God as seed has the ability to reproduce and intrinsically grow (on its own) when founded on a good receptive soil.
Is your heart a good soil? If you believe and do the Word of God, Jesus says you’re a good soil. Congratulations then, because you made yourself a receptacle for the power in the Word to be released. Great changes and transformations take place in us when we live by the Word.
Here is another thing, if the Word of God is seed, it does suggest that we can intentionally plant the Word in different areas of our lives and expect it to reproduce just what we planted- after it’s own kind…
Do you know the Word on healing, peace, provision, love, faith, etc?
You ask; ‘how do I plant the Word’?
The same way the Sower did; he spoke the Word.
Speak the Word you believe into different areas of your and reap a harvest of great transformations and positive change.
