In the beginning, God made man from the dust of the earth and breathed into him. Man only became a living (spiritual) being because God breathed into him (Genesis 2:7, James 2:26, Psalm 33:6). The Word of God is life.
The Tripartite You
Man is a tripartite being; he is a spirit, he has a soul and lives in a body. Following the sin of Adam in the Garden of Eden, man fell and died spiritually. (Romans 5, Genesis 2:17). The Word of God is Life and Jesus (the Word) came to give Life and to restore man’s relationship with God.
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.‘ John 10:10 NKJV
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 NKJV
With the body, man interacts with the physical world; he can touch, feel, smell, see and taste through his sensory organs. His soul handles his thoughts, emotions and feelings- which are all connected to his mind. After someone gets born again, he must pass his mind through a renewal process in order to (overtime) align his thoughts, emotions and feelings with the workings of his spirit. This renewal process of the mind comes by hearing the Word of God. (Romans 12:2, Ephesians 4:23).
The Recreated spirit-man
Jesus (the Word) changes the narrative for man; a one-time spiritually dead man can become alive in Christ. Jesus came to deliver man from sin and its consequent death. And just as every man died spiritually in Adam because of sin, in Jesus Christ, all can be made alive (Romans 5:18-20). At the new birth, it is the spirit of man that is born again or recreated. The recreated spirit is perfect. God is Spirit and He relates with man primarily through his spirit. The Word of God is life and it gives life (John 6:63)
“Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.” Romans 5:18 NKJV
The Word of God is Life. We are born of the ever-living Word of God…
“having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever” I Peter 1:23 NKJV
The food of the recreated spirit
The Word of God is Life. The Word is food and life to the spirit-man ….
“..…It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”’ Matthew 4:4 NKJV
The Word of God is Living
Isaiah 40:8 and 1 Peter 21-25 contrasts 4 living things- the flesh/people, grass, flower and Word of God.
“because “all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away, But the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.” I Peter 1:24-25 NKJV
“The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.” The grass withers, the flower fades, because the breath of the Lord blows upon it; Surely the people are grass.” Isaiah 40:7-8 NKJV
The Word of God is Living! Alive!! Powerful!!! It is Sharp and cuts through the spirit, soul and body…..
“God’s word is alive and working. It is sharper than the sharpest sword and cuts all the way into us. It cuts deep to the place where the soul and the spirit are joined. God’s word cuts to the center of our joints and our bones. It judges the thoughts and feelings in our hearts.” Hebrews 4:12 ERV.
Did you notice that of the 4 living things mentioned in Isaiah and first Peter, 3 of them fade and pass away-people/flesh, grass and flower. Only one thing remains and abides forever- The Word of God. The Word does not fade, pass away or die. You can trust your life on the living, ever-abiding Word of God.
“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” ‘ John 6:63 NKJV

Without the spirit, the Body dies (James 2:26). However, where the spirit remains, the body stays alive. Just as the body lives on food, the spirit lives on the Word (Matthew 4:4). The Word of God is Spirit and Life. As long as you feed your spirit with the relevant Word of God, you shall live..
“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:11 NKJV
For the Word of God is Living! Alive!! Powerful!!!
