“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.“
Genesis 1:1-3 NKJV
We sometimes read the account of creation and conclude that God created the universe from nothing. While this may seem right in a way considering that there was originally void, formlessness and darkness on the face of the earth, however, it wasn’t these things that gave rise to the universe. In and of themselves, void and formlessness will maintain their current state or deteriorate but very unlikely to transform to something useful on their own. And as for darkness, it is just a natural habitat for all sorts of imaginable and unimaginable evil to thrive, for dreams to never be realized, for possibilities to continue to be hidden or concealed. Little wonder God created light first.
God didn’t exactly create the world out of nothing- void, formlessness and darkness could never give rise to the world.
“……And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.“
Two forces worked together to bring about the world we now live in; the Spirit and the Word.
God created the entire universe out of Words (His Words) as inspired by His Spirit.
They were not ordinary Words, they were not just mere words, they were not careless/useless words, they were/are living, powerful and sharp words..
Hebrews 4:12 tells us this much….
“For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.”

His Words were/are living enough to bring forth life….
“God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each able to produce offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”
Genesis 1:25-26 NLT
His Words were powerful enough to create/produce things….
And His Words were/are sharp enough to separate created things that required seperation, God’s Word, God’s holy Word.
“And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness.”
Genesis 1:4 NLT
You know when you visit a supermarket to buy say; a can of beverage, somewhere on the body of the can, the manufacturers always show where the item was manufactured from, for example;….Made in Britain …..Made in France…..Made in China….etc.
Well, God made the Universe/World from Words (His Words). And if everything we were born into came into being from God’s Words, everything we want to create can come from God’s Word spoken in faith…
“By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”
Hebrews 11:3 NKJV
Faith, because God Saw the world He wanted, He Believed it could be formed, He Spoke what He’d conceived and believed, and He Received it.
“……and God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.”
Genesis 1:4 NKJV
God received the light He spoke into existence (He saw it!) and it was so…
You can create your world!
“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.“
