To live victoriously is to always overcome, to always conquer, to always prevail, to always triumph, to win all the time.
Every Christian should live a life of perpetual victory because of the finished work of Christ (1 John 5:4, 2 Corinthians 2:14, Romans 8:37).
In Part 1 of this study, we discussed the requirement for living a victorious Christian life- you must be born of God. First John 5:4 says everyone born of God overcomes the world (1 John 5:4).
In Part 2, we looked at the scope of the Christian victory. Jesus delegated authority to His disciples. Christians have authority over the 3 worlds in the name of Jesus.. ..in heaven, on earth, under the earth. This authority is exercised through the Name of Jesus. If we have the authority, we should also have the victory. So we have victory over sin, sickness and death, over the world and the devil, over all agents of darkness, over principalities, powers, dominion, might, names, persecutions, unrighteousness, sin, tribulations, distress, famine, perils, nakedness, sword, and indeed every attack of the devil.
Today, we consider how we (the Body of Christ) became victorious.
How did we become victorious?
We have victory (in All things) through Christ
“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors and gain an overwhelming victory through Him who loved us [so much that He died for us].”
Romans 8:37 AMP
“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” I Corinthians 15:57 NKJV
We have victory because the greater One (Jesus) lives in us.
“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
I John 4:4 NKJV
We have victory because the Father sat us (together with Christ) on the seat of authority.
Ephesians 1:17-23 is an excellent confession to be made by (and for) all saints, for knowledge, revelation, wisdom and understanding of what Christ obtained for His Church.
“and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.”
Ephesians 1:19-23 NKJV
Now, notice that there are 2 persons mentioned in this scripture; God the Father and the Lord Jesus. Infact, the prayer is actually directed at God the Father.
“that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him”
Ephesians 1:17 NKJV
Looking at Ephesians 1:19-23 again, we see that God the Father is the One who raised Christ, sat Christ at His right hand (in a position of authority), and put all things under Christ.
Ephesians 2:4-6 expands this further by identifying that the Church (Christians, Body of Christ) is also seated with Christ. The Father sat us with Christ!
“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus”
Ephesians 2:4-6 NKJV
So we are seated with Christ. But see who sat us there…..the Almighty God!!! We have the blessing and backing of the Father to occupy the position of authority at His right hand. Halleluyah!!! The Father sat me with Christ!
We have victory by faith
“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”
I John 5:4 NKJV
Faith steps in and takes charge.
We believe, speak and act victoriously. We live as Victor’s and conquerors. We stand firm in the victory Jesus Christ won for us, resolute and unwavering.
When the overall head of an organisation appoints you into an office, irrespective of your qualification or experience, you assume office and discharge your duties accordingly. You have his backing, he has your commitment and loyalty.
God Almighty placed us in an office, in the position of authority, at His right hand, let’s assume our office.
Sit and be seated at the Father’s Right Hand, enjoy victories and also take charge of your responsibilities.
Praise God! We are victors, overcomers and we enjoy overwhelming victory in All things through Christ. The Greater One (Jesus) is in us and so we overcome the world and all that’s in it. We have the blessing and backing of the Father to reign and rule in life from a position of authority. And by faith, we take charge, we rule and reign in calm confident dominion. Halleluyah!!
