Introduction
Living victoriously should be a way of life for a Christian. To live victoriously is to always overcome, always conquer, to always prevail, to triumph always, to win all the time. This is what Victorious Christian Living is about.
A life of perpetual victory is expected of a Christian because of the finished work of Christ. First John 5:4 tells us that this way of life is possible and everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world…
“For everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world—our [continuing, persistent] faith [in Jesus the Son of God]”
1 John 5:4 AMP
Everyone born of God is victorious. According to 1 John 5:4, a child of God is to be identified with victory; victory is his/her identity, and overcoming is a continuous experience for such a person. This victory is possible through faith.
Again, Romans 8:37 says we conquer and have victory in all things…
“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors and gain an overwhelming victory through Him who loved us [so much that He died for us].”
Romans 8:37 AMP
And also, 2 Corinthians 2:14 says God always leads us in triumph…..
“But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us spreads and makes evident everywhere the sweet fragrance of the knowledge of Him.”
2 Corinthians 2:14 AMP
So conquering, triumphing, winning, overcoming, living in perpetual victory should be a way of life for every child of God. Victory should be the natural habitat or domain of children of God. Victorious Christian Living should be a way of life.
Clearly, the kind of victory we speak of here is exclusive to a specific group of persons….those who are born of God; children of God.
Who are those born of God?
John 1:12-13 says that anyone who receives Jesus Christ (as Lord and Saviour) gained the right to become a child of God.
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God”
John 1:12-13 NKJV
Galatians 3:26-29 identifies those baptized into Christ as sons of God, Abraham’s seed and heirs of God..
“For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
Galatians 3:26-29 NKJV
Romans 8:14-17 also identifies those led by the Spirit as sons of God, children of God and joint heirs with Christ….
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.”
Romans 8:14-17 NKJV
Psalm 82:6 prophetically declares that children of God are gods.
“I said, “You are gods, and all of you are children of the Most High.”
Psalms 82:6 NKJV
That is like saying that my child is an Obomanu as I am Obomanu.
You are gods!
Doesn’t that just sound like blasphemy? Absolutely! Now, see in John 10: 33-38 as Jesus responds to the Jews on this matter….
“The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.” Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods”? If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken), do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’? If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.”
John 10:33-38 NKJV
Are you a child of God? Are you born of God? Have you been baptized into Christ? Are you led by the Spirit of God? Are you one of the gods spoken of in Psalm 82:6 and John 10:33-38?
If you answer ‘yes’ to these questions, then victory should be your domain. Victory should be your natural habitat. Victory should be a daily occurrence for you. And Victorious Christian Living should be your experience.
