Aha! There he is! Alas, I have reproduced myself. Yes! He looks just like me in form…. Beautiful and wonderful. This is me! And his name shall be called ‘Adam’.
Oh! But he isn’t moving, I can’t relate with him if he isn’t moving..Yeah, I’ll breathe my Spirit into him.
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”
Genesis 2:7 NKJV
“And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.”
I Corinthians 15:45 NKJV
Adam only became a living being after God breathed into him, meaning that his body without the spirit was useless.
Job knew that….
“The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.“
Job 33:4 NKJV
“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they apre life.
John 6:63 NKJV
So it is possible for the spirit to completely rule the flesh.
Romans 12:1 is often quoted to admonish believers to be totally surrendered to God by committing all they do to Him.
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.
Romans 12:1 NLT
What is a Sacrifice?
A sacrifice is something offered up or the act of offering something. As used in Romans 12:1, it is something offered, in this case the body of a believer.
How does anyone give his/her body to God as a living sacrifice?
By keeping members of one’s body sacred, holy, dedicated to God. What members and how?
In Romans 12:2 talks about being different from the world. So I’d think that presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice would mean not doing things in the way the world does it, in words and actions.
The worldly person acts as he does because he’s primarily ruled by his senses. He doesn’t have the God nature. A believer should act differently having been born of the Spirit of God.
To present the body as a living sacrifice is to be spirit-ruled rather than sense-ruled. To deaden the flesh, to offer it up to God, to totally yield one’s thoughts, intellect, emotions, actions, speaking, to God. To act as if one is only led by the Spirit. To be dead to the flesh, living only as led by the Spirit of God.
How are you handling life’s challenges? As the world would or as led by the Spirit?
A spirit-ruled life will always experience victory, success and prosperity.
I offer my body as a living sacrifice to God; my body belongs to God.
