The whole armor of God is the complete set of Christian protective gear consisting of salvation, righteousness, trust (in the word), peace, faith and the spoken Word. To put on the whole armor of God is to be continually conscious of, and unflinchingly committed to proclaiming who we are and what we have in Christ while living in this reality. The reality that we are born of God, we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, that the Word of God is our truth, we have the peace that Jesus gives, and that all of God’s promises in Christ are yeah and amen (and we have them).
The Helmet of Salvation
You know the thing about helmets? They seem rather inconveniencing but yet they can be lifesavers.
I was watching a movie recently with my husband when the following question dropped; ‘if you were faced with death from a killer, would you rather take a bullet to the head or 5/6 bullets to your chest and still bleed gradually to death?’ This question may not be relevant to this discourse but it sort of shows why helmets must be worn at warfronts irrespective of how heavy or inconveniencing they are.
Salvation, what exactly is it?
Salvation means deliverance from danger or harm. It means to be preserved or removed from ruin. Salvation in this study refers to the eternal deliverance granted by God to anyone who accepts His conditions of repentance.
Adam’s sin brought sin and death, God made a way of escape through Jesus Christ
“And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus , for He will save His people from their sins.”

“In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

I find it interesting that the first mentioned component of the whole armor of God is salvation. Salvation is the first step to enjoying the protection the armor of God gives.
How to become saved
With the birth, death and resurrection of Christ, God set in place the process for salvation for all mankind (born and yet to be born). Getting saved from sin and death isn’t hard at all; you believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord, confess Him as Lord and Saviour….

Salvation is only gained through Jesus Christ.
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Salvation is made available through God’s unmerited favor and accessed by faith.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God”

The Gains of Salvation
We have eternal life
God’s Greatest Gift to mankind is eternal life in Christ Jesus.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Eternal life is not the same as long life. Eternal life is God’s very own life. It is life and life more abundantly (John 10:10b).
We are God’s children born into a royal priesthood
“having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever”

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light”

We are heirs of God, we have an inheritance through Christ

We are new creations in Christ.

We are translated from darkness into light

No longer under the authority of Satan. Now we have authority over Satan.

We have victory always through faith in Christ Jesus

We are free from condemnation

Do you now see that equipped with all this information and knowledge, it is difficult to be downtrodden by principalities and powers, or by any other scheme of the evil one?
