Thank you so much for staying with me through this study on humility. It has been a very illuminating, liberating and humbling one.
In this concluding part, we just remind ourselves of some key takeaways from this study.
Number 1 takeaway on Humility from the Bible
Humility means to have a modest opinion of one’s importance. Not thinking of oneself too highly or too lowly. To have a meek, lowly, genuine disposition. It means recognizing and walking boldly in who Christ has made us while still respecting others. To honor and reverence God, putting Him first in our lives.
Superiority complex and inferiority complex are both pointers to a prideful life.
You can read more on this in Parts I and II.
Number 2 takeaway
Humility is for everyone and towards everyone. It is not a call for those with great achievements, wealth, exposure, etc to become debased. Every Christian irrespective of education, achievement, worth, should put on this virtue as clothing and should express humility towards all others.
Humility is a prerequisite to serving or leading well; in love and in the fear of the Lord. Anyone struggling with submission needs to learn what humility is all about. It is a necessary trait for submission and service.
The relationship between humility, service and submission was discussed in Parts III and IV.
Number 3 takeaway on Humility from the Bible
False humility is actually pride in disguise. It is deceptive and selfish. People with a legalistic, doctrinal and traditional outlook on life are more likely to act humbly as disguise.
True humility is selfless, motivated by love and/or reverence for God.
Pride and false humility lead to dishonor and shame, strife, conflicts, godlessness, poverty, and may ultimately destroy a person.
You can read more about false humility and the dangers of pride in Part V
Number 4
A humble person has a lot to gain. He/she is set up for honor and promotion, is endued with wisdom, assured of riches and prosperity, enjoys favor and goodwill and is well positioned to thrive in unfavorable circumstances.
Do you love these benefits? Are you wondering how you can have them? We saw 15 guides on how to be humble in Part IV. You want to check those out to get started….
The benefits of humility were dealt with in Part VI.
Conclusion
Be humble; fear God, love and respect everyone. Seek the good of others at all times and remain teachable.
Prayer
Thank You precious Father!
Your Word is for correction, reproof, instruction and Your Word is profitable (2 Timothy 3:16). It never returns to You void. Your Word always accomplishes its intended purpose (Isaiah 55:11). We will never be the same. Yes, we are set up for promotion, riches, prosperity, increase, vitality, dominion, favor, goodwill (on all sides), wisdom is our domain. We are comfortably seated in wisdom, halleluyah! Thank You Father. All the glory, honor and praise is Yours forever! In Jesus name. Amen!!!
