In this series, we are studying John Chapter 11, verse after verse. Today, we continue from verse 3 of John Chapter 11.
Truths From John Chapter 11 Verses 3 To 7 (Continued)
So far, we’ve seen 3 truths from these verses. 1. Jesus loves us and He proved this by dying for us. 2. Death is not a threat to Jesus because He is the Resurrection and Life.. So death should it should not be a threat to us for whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. 3. Sickness, disease and death do not put Jesus under pressure neither should we be put under pressure by them. Jesus conquered sickness and death for us, so we have the victory. To conclude on these verses, here is truth number 4…
Truth #4
We stated in part 2, that going by John 11 verses 3 to 7, it would seem as though sickness can have 3 possible outcomes. 1. Death 2. Glorify God. 3. Help people believe in God. I dare say that for a Christian, whom Christ already paid the eternal price for sickness and disease, no sickness should lead to death. Again, Isaiah 53:5 and 1 Peter 2:24 clearly tells us the exchange that took place as a result of Christ’ death…….
“who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness— by whose stripes you were healed.”
I Peter 2:24 NKJV
“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.“
Isaiah 53:5 NKJV
Therefore, instead of death, we have health and life. I would also more readily align myself with 3 John 1:2
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”
For me therefore, my body is not a den of sickness and disease because Christ gave me health and life instead. Peradventure sickness appears on my body (coming from the enemy), it should only end in a good report- to glorify God and to bring people to the Father.
Going by this truth, it is not okay to accommodate sickness and disease in our bodies. Secondly, it is more honorable that we go to graves when our work is done, not that death snatches us away through sickness and disease.
In the next part, we’ll continue from verse 11.
Have a blessed day❤
Happy Pass-Over.
