Defining Branding & Packaging
Branding and packaging can arguably be used interchangeably. This is an area in the field of marketing that includes the practice of creating a name, identity or design that identifies and differentiates one offering from another in the market. The aim being to attract and retain loyal customers.
Both words have often been used by motivational speakers in personal branding to describe how people can dress, speak or groom in order to win their audience in business, workplace or ministry. You may be familiar with the saying “dress the way you want to be addressed”.
Branding and Packaging for a Productive Christian Life
The life of a Christian includes fulfilling the function of Christ ambassadors on earth in soul winning. I like to see this as a result every Christian can seek to achieve. Imagine the branding and packaging of the Ambassadors of the nations of this world. They are introduced and addressed by who they are, wherever they go. They use diplomatic passports to travel and receive special treatment at the borders. Their car plate numbers are distinct. They reside in special quarters with immunity. They are shielded from the codes of their host country while in the confines of their residence in the same host country.
1 Peter 2:9 reminds us that believers are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people.
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” NKJV
This is the brand identity we must bear. When you are comfortable with your identity by reason of your faith in Jesus Christ, next thing will be to uphold it wherever you go. And also to exercise the immunity you have and function accordingly.
The Unique Christian Brand
By ‘chosen generation’, it means you have been selected from a pack on a mission. Therefore it ought to reflect in the way you turn up as a distinguished personality on a mission. You must carry your diplomatic passport or plate number (in this case, the word of God in your lips and the spirit of God) when you go around. That way you can exercise your mission without any hindrance and free to impact your world.
Royal priesthood again connotes a distinguished personality depicted in how you dress, your grooming and words you speak. Therefore, consider decent dressing, careful grooming and salt seasoned speech as part of your branding.
Sustaining the Christian Brand
Someone may ask, what is it that I should do to sustain my branding and packaging for positive results. I will recommend staying connected always to the vine tree of Jesus by prayer and meditation, from where we draw our nourishment that we may continue to produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control.
In summary, know who you are, act accordingly, remain connected to your source of identity and keep soaring.
