Psalm 91 Confessions
There is no better time to love Psalm 91 than in this period of a viral pandemic. Churches all over are adopting Psalm 91 for their faith confessions. Wise move.
I am also thankful to God for the resolve of millions of Christians worldwide to operate by faith and not fear. As a trained medical doctor I also recognize the wisdom of social distancing, quarantine or isolation as recommended by experts, especially for communities with reported increasing incidences of the virus.
As Christians, whichever we choose to do, to express faith by defying the obvious threat of exposure in mass gatherings, or to heed counsel from experts for moderate to extreme social distancing, one thing remains certain; the LIFE of God in us is indestructible. The SAME Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the grave is ALIVE in us and it QUICKENS and gives life to our mortal bodies.
“And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.”
Romans 8:11 AMP
So needless attempting to PROVE anything to anyone, not even to ourselves. The knowledge and consciousness of the indwelling Spirit and His powers in us, brings a calming confidence that cannot be taken away from us.
More than Psalm 91 Recitals …..
I have shared in a blogpost about a period of ill health in my life when talking became a big challenge. https://graceobomanu.com/when-the-doctor-says-no-blog-post-1/
During that time, there where occasions I was too weak to speak. No gainsaying that making confessions was a struggle at such times. Yes I immersed myself in Psalm 91 and a few other scriptures, but there were just times that it was too hard to speak.
I learnt something I consider greater than confessions….the faithfulness of God. Many nights I slept off just uttering ‘father I trust in your faithfulness‘ and I woke up next morning. God’s faithfulness became a shield for me.
“He will cover you and completely protect you with His pinions, And under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and a wall.”
Psalms 91:4 AMP

Some years later my blogpost series ‘ 3 Ethical Truths to know About Your God‘ would further clarify to me that faithfulness is an attribute of God that is constant. I strongly recommend a detour at this point to read one of the posts of that series….https://graceobomanu.com/know-these-3-ethical-truths-about-your-god-blogpost-2/
God’s faithfulness is a Shield
God’s faithfulness to us is borne out of our relationship with Him. More like to say, because we are children of God, we belong to God and so He is obligated to be faithful to us. We can go to sleep with this assurance.
Deuteronomy 7:9, tells us additional consistent attributes of God; He is God (Sovereign & Supreme), He is a Covenant Keeper and He is Merciful.
“Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.” Deuteronomy 7: 9 NKJV.
So brethren, I encourage you to rest assured that Your Father always takes care of His Own. Sometimes an earthly father is unable to cater for himself and his child at the same time. Airline attendants will advise you to first wear your face mask before helping any other person (including your child). But that doesn’t happen with God. He takes care of His Own.
His faithfulness is a shield. Stay safe under it. Maintain your relationship.
May your day be blessed today . And live victoriously ❤.
