You are light..
One scripture I’ve tried to impress upon my children is Mathew 5:14-16. As often as is necessary, especially when they’re all packed and ready to return to school, I remind each of them who they are; ‘you are light’.
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:14-16 NKJV

Features of light..
Light is for direction, discernment, enlightenment and revelation. Light makes things evident. Light as used in Matthew 5; 14-16, would also mean to be an example of Christian character and excellence, to be a trusted witness of God.
Source of Matthew 5: 14-16 light..
“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”
John 1:4-5 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/jhn.1.4-5.NKJV
John 1:4-5, is actually one of my favourite scriptures and I’ve blogged on it a few times ?. It’s not too difficult to understand why; …being light is loaded with spiritual (and physical) advantages. https://graceobomanu.com/i-am-light/
As true as that is, that is, with all the advantages we see in John 1:4-5, we cannot maximize the benefits of being light as Christians until we understand it’s source. This is because understanding the source of our light, helps us understand it’s nature and what we stand to gain from it.
The illuminator for direction, discernment, revelation, insights and spiritual enlightenment is life; …Jesus Christ in us. So if we have Christ we have this life and because we have this life, we have light. And as a result of this light in us, we stand out, we are ahead, we are special, we cannot be overcome by evil or darkness, infact we confuse darkness….darkness/evil cannot understand us.
In every community we find ourselves, we are light. Whether at work, at home, at school, and oh! what a beautiful display of light beams we have when Christians gather together! ?.
We need not fear what the future holds because the light shining from the life of Christ in us is here to stay. There is a constant supply of light from this life.
I really love Proverbs 24:16;
“For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.”
Proverbs 24:16 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/pro.24.16.NKJV
No need to bother about the ‘wicked’ mentioned in Proverbs above, he does not have the life I have, so his shine is unpredictable and temporary. On the other hand, I have an assurance of a continuous, unceasing stream of light because the life of my light is Christ. My light cannot be quenched because it is constantly fed, supplied and sustained by the life of God in me. My light shines uninhibited, unhindered and ever so brightly…
You know, sometimes people, colleagues, friends, etc steal your work, put their name on it and own it without recourse to you. What can be even more painful is that they act as though you have nothing worth their time or attention. When these kind of things happen around me, what I hear in my spirit is ‘there’s more where that came from‘. There will always be more wisdom, insights, knowledge for God’s children because their source never runs dry.
Thank You Jesus ❤
