Time to Bring in the Sheaves: Blogpost 3

Really, God is at the centre of it all. He causes the lot to fall in pleasant places for us, we propagate the land by His wisdom and in His strength, and while we’re asleep, He causes our seeds to grow and yes, He gives us great increase.

Secrets, Mysteries & Honor.

It’s ridiculous sometimes how we try to keep secrets from God. We attempt to hide some of our thoughts from Him.
I caught myself a few days ago trying to explain to God why I responded to a recent incidence in a particular way. I was subconsciously trying to justify my actions to God. ‘Ridiculous!’ I later thought. Our secrets are bare before Him. So are mysteries, because He knows and sees all things.

Would not God search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.”
Psalms 44:21 NKJV.

“… and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/heb.4.12.NKJV

As I grow older, the place of tact and wisdom in human relations is becoming increasingly obvious to me, and the Bible is all for it;

The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, And adds learning to his lips.”
Proverbs 16:23 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/pro.16.23.NKJV

But you know as humans, we hide ignorance, disapprovals and sometimes lies under tact and wisdom.
King Nebuchadnezzar knew how deceptive human hearts could be (even though sometimes, human deceit can be intended to protect oneself rather than hurt another). Have you ever woken up from a dream whose details bothered and troubled you? I mean an emotionally and physically draining dream? Nebuchadnezzar’s dream in Daniel Chapter 2 left him disturbed, perturbed and sleep eluded him.

Now in the second year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; and his spirit was so troubled that his sleep left him.”
Daniel 2:1 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/dan.2.1.NKJV

Reading through Daniel chapter 2, many would probably judge Nebuchadnezzar as inconsiderate and wicked. I personally felt that way somewhat. It is one thing to have a troubling dream and another thing to ask somebody else to attempt to recount it for you. People are more likely to try guesses around positive events like ‘oh! You had a bouncing baby boy’ for a lady you know have been waiting to have a child. It is also easy to guess a dream of ‘I know! you got a promotion’ for a friend you know have been trusting God for a raise. But truly, not many people want to guess a dream of ill-luck or misfortune for their acquaintances, definitely not for your boss, and especially not when your boss is King Nebuchadnezzar.

The astrologers, Sorcerers and Chaldeans wisely maintained that no one was capable of both revealing a dream and giving it’s interpretation. As it were, considering the king’s decree, their choices were limited. Quote a wrong dream, you die. Don’t volunteer any dream at all, you die. They chose the later.

Thank God for God, The Most High and Mighty One. The Discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. The One who strategically positions His own where His power and wisdom are displayed. Many times He intentionally sets up a banquet before enemies just to show His sovereignty and by so doing project His own. The Greater One in us.

Having experienced God for Himself and proactively applying himself to study about God, Daniel was in no doubt that Jehovah could and would meet Nebuchadnezzar request. The Jehovah he has come to know, would do it. Daniel recognized His privileged position in Nebuchadnezzar’s dilemma and in confidence promised to bring the King an answer of peace.

Days later, Nebuchadnezzar also came to know Daniel’s God as “the God of gods, Lord of kings, and a Revealer of secrets” (Daniel 2:47).

Nebuchadnezzar kept his promise in Chapter 2 Vs. 6, he gave Daniel gifts, rewards and great honor. Daniel was given rulership over the province of Babylon and its wise men.

……….
It was a daunting task to both know and interpret the King’s dream. Truly, only Jehovah could do that. And He did it through Daniel.

Our knowledge and experiences of God prepare us to trust Him for greater things.

He is The Greater One in us. Impossible things become possible to us because with God nothing shall be impossible. He is in us working great wonders, miracles, displaying His power and wisdom, and lifting us up to the place of honor and glory.

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages FOR OUR GLORY which none of the rulers of this age knew; (……) But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.”
I Corinthians 2:6‭-‬10 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/1co.2.6-10.NKJV

I have shared before in a blogpost how a brother walked into my office one morning and completely changed my understanding of Ephesians 3:20;

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,” NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/eph.3.20.NKJV

God does ‘exceedingly abundant above all’ according to His power at work in us.

The Greater One is in us to do exceedingly abundant above all ….through us.

Wherever we find ourselves, we must stay confident (just like Daniel), that God is at work in us to display His power.

At work, The Greater One is in us.

At school, The Greater One is in us.

In our businesses, The Greater One is in us.
In all our hand finds to do (according to His divine plan). The Greater One is in us.

He is in us to manifest greatness, because a great God can only manifest greatness.

He is in us as the Revealer of mysteries and secrets, thus leading us to honor and glory.
Thank You Father❤.

Divine Opportunities for Increase: Blogpost 1

Medicine is a professional discipline having different specialties. To rise to the status of a Specialist in medicine you must undergo some professional exams plus minus a residency training. This is the usual career path in medical practice.

As a young doctor I started asking questions about administration and management in Health. This is not a common pathway for doctors to rise to the top. But as far as I could see, clinical practice wasn’t my thing. Yes! I prayed, prayed and followed my heart, glad I did.

Generally, success is defined by power, wealth or prestige. People reckon you as successful if you have made good enough profit to be considered wealthy, if you occupy a position of power or if you have earned or become conferred with a prestigious role.

Often there is a lot of emphasis on hard-work, sharpening skills, grooming talents more than on chasing one’s passion, especially if such passion has not been known to bring prestige, power or profit.

In this blogpost series, we’ll be exploring ‘ways of increase with God’. And we’ll be answering some key questions as we go along; ‘should a Christian rely solely on God’s grace and not work hard?.’ ‘Is the message of prosperity as popularly preached in some Christian circles unrealistic?’ We’ll also look at essential Christian virtues for sustained divine increase, as well as enumerate killers of increase/growth in a Christian’s life.

The first way of divine increase with God to consider is;

  1. Service

Service is a springboard to success and greatness. Service simply means doing something for others voluntarily or for a fee.

Eight years ago, I was randomly selected by the Commissioner of Health in my State to work in a committee with top shots in the healthcare sector at the time. Then I was appointed the welfare officer. Being the youngest member of the committee (in every sense) the greatest challenge I faced servng in that role was insisting that members earned their stipends. I acquired enemies that tried to hunt me many years later ?. But that’s not all that happened, many months on, one of the older ladies in the group, picked me to work with her as part of the management team in a newly established health board, a role that brought me to limelight in that area of healthcare delivery in the State. Years later, she said she chose me because of my dedication, hardwork and commitment as welfare officer in that committee we worked together at the time.

God deals with His children in different ways. As a Christian, God may endue you with strength and wisdom to serve and He provides opportunities for you to climb the next rung of the ladder by putting your gifting to use through serving.

The kind of service that would pull from your strength and gifting and bring divine increase will have to be selfless, conscientious, plus or minus an immediate or obvious personal gain. This can be service to humanity; done out of the fear of the Lord, or service done to God as an act of gratitude or show of love.

Our example of selfless service from the Bible is Joseph. As a mature man at 30 years, Joseph began serving in the court of Pharaoh the King of Egypt. The story of Joseph the son of Jacob spans over many chapters of the first book of the Bible, Genesis. We’ll look at a few;

Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh King of Egypt. And Joseph went out from Pharaoh’s presence and travelled throughout Egypt.” Genesis 41:46. NIV

The Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered and lived in the house of his Egyptian master. When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord gave him success in everything he did, Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Portiphar put him in charge of his household and he entrusted to his care everything he owned. Genesis 39:2-5. NIV

If you are reading this blogpost and you are currently serving an ‘Egyptian master’ I urge you to stay where God has planted you because therein lies your increase. Or at least spend good time in prayer asking God’s direction before jumping out. God does not make mistakes. You may just be on a divine mission just like Joseph. Your service could be God’s opportunity to you to spring to the top for His divine purpose.

Interestingly, another person we see in the Bible that had great resilience for service is Jacob, Joseph’s father. Jacob served to get the love of his life, Rachel.

So Jacob served seven years to get Rachel, but they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her.” Genesis 29: 20. NIV

Indeed, service can buy you prestige, power, profit as well as take care of your passion 🙂

In the next part of this blogpost series, we’ll look at key virtues for divine increase, some of which Joseph possessed.

Stay with me.

Know these 3 ethical truths about your God: Blogpost 4

I have been truly blessed writing and meditating on this blogpost series. It is absolutely exciting to be reassured of God’s faithfulness, His mercy and His Integrity to keep His promises. The peace Jesus Christ already won for me is further cemented by the knowledge of these 3 truths about God….attributes that are inherent and intrinsic to God and that will never change. Halleluyah!

We have looked at;

  1. The Lord our God is Faithful, meaning that He is dependable, reliable and trustworthy.

2. The Lord our God is Merciful, meaning that He does compassionate, gracious and forgiving.  In fact, Jehovah is RICH in mercy which is an offshoot of His Goodness. The Lord is GOOD always and His mercy is everlasting and brand new every morning.

And today we end this series looking at the third attribute of Jehovah we need to know as His children..;

3. Know that The Lord Your God is a Covenant-Keeper.

Scripture reference has been:

 “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.” Deuteronomy 7: 9  NKJV.

Covenant is an agreement, contract, treaty, pact or deal. A covenant brings about a relationship of commitment between 2 people.

From the Bible we see that God made a covenant with Abraham, Isaac, David and Moses (1 Chronicles 16:16, Psalms 78:37). He also confirmed the Oath He made Isaac to Jacob (1 Chronicles 16:17).

Jehovah takes His covenant seriously. Yeah, that is something to know. He valued His covenant to Abraham, David, Jacob, etc and He stayed committed to it. God remembers His covenant.

I have made a covenant with my Chosen, I have sworn to My servant David.”  Psalm 89:3

then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and My covenant with Isaac and My covenant with Abraham I will remember; I will remember the land.”  Leviticus 26:42

Someone may be asking; ‘when did I sign any agreement with God and what are my entitlements’? Yes, we did enter into an agreement with God the day we gave our lives to Jesus Christ.

Gather My saints together to Me, those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.” Psalms 50:5

Through His sacrifice, Christ traded His Righteousness for our sins at Calvary. He received stripes on His body to purchase our Healing. He was chastised for our Peace. He willed All the powers God gave Him over to us post resurrection to enable us do exploits. He made us More-than-Conquerors and we have Victory at all times and in every situation by Faith.

Knowing these attributes and being confident of them is a great anchor of faith for Believers in Christ Jesus.   God WATCHES over all His promises made to us and He is committed to performing EVERY SINGLE one of them.

So what is that problem staring you in the face? What is that situation? Turn it anyway you like, analyse it anyway that makes natural sense. Yes, tell me how big it is. Tell me how terrible it looks.

But please allow me also tell you that Jehovah has done everything in one single sacrifice to ensure every mountain in your life becomes a plain.

Confidently and Assuredly I say to you, God’s faithfulness, mercy and integrity guarantees you a great package. Trust Him!

Know these 3 ethical truths about Your God….: Blogpost 2

Welcome back!

We ended the first part of this blogpost series listing the 3 ethical truths about Jehovah that every Christian must know.  That;

1. The Lord Your God (Jehovah) is Faithful.

2. The Lord Your God (Jehovah) is Merciful.

3. The Lord Your God (Jehovah) keeps Covenant.

We’ll look at one of these today.

Know that The Lord Your God is Faithful.

From our discussions in the first part, this could easily read as: ‘Know that The God whom you have a relationship with is Faithful.’

What does it mean to be faithful?

Faithful means loyal, constant, steadfast. Unswerving adherence to a person, an oath or promise.

Also means dependability, devotion.

Implies long-continued fidelity to a pledge, a duty or obligation.

Those are simple dictionary definitions/descriptions of ‘faithful’

How does the Bible describe a ‘faithful God’?

Let’s look at a few scriptures….

“But (as surely as) God is faithful and means what He says, our message to you is not ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ (at the same time).  2 Corinthians 1:18. AMP.

God is faithful (He is reliable, trustworthy and ever true to His promise-He can be depended on) and through Him you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”    1 Corinthians 1:9. AMP.

Who made heaven and earth, The sea, and all that is in them, Who keeps truth and is faithful forever.” Psalm 146:6. AMP

But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you (setting you on a firm foundation) and will protect and guard you from the evil one.”                       2 Thessalonians 3:3. AMP.

Faithful and absolutely trustworthy is He who is calling you (to Himself for your salvation) and He will do it (He will fulfill His call by making you holy, guarding you, watching over you and protecting you as His own).      1 Thessalonians 5:24. AMP.

For I am the LORD, I do not change (but remain faithful to My covenant with you); that is why you, O sons of Judah, have not come to an end.” Malachi 3:6 AMP.

So when the Bible says to know that The Lord your God is faithful, it means to know that;

  • He is reliable
  • He is dependable
  • He is trustworthy
  • He is compassionate
  • He means what He says
  • He keeps His promises

Halleluyah!

And He shows His faithfulness in;

  • Protecting you
  • Guarding you
  • Strengthening you
  • Setting you on a firm foundation
  • Making you holy
  • Keeping all the promises He made you. Promises of health, prosperity, protection, peace, and all His Good and excellent promises seen in Deuteronomy 28:1-13, Psalm 103, Psalm 147:3, etc..

How does He do that?

By causing ALL things to work together for your Good….

And we know (with great confidence) that God (who is deeply concerned about us) causes all things to work together (as a plan) for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.” Romans 8:28

Beloved in Christ Jesus, you can trust absolutely in Jehovah.  Be confident that He is your God, and if He is your God, then rest assured of His protection. provision, guidance, promotion,  and His commitment to making good ALL His promises to you.

Jehovah is CAUSING all things to work together for your good.

Trust Him.

Christian Living

You CANNOT serve God and Mammon.

You cannot serve The Lord Jesus Christ and Mammon.  Mammon represents anything a Christian values more than The Lord, and may include money, fame, status, material possessions, etc.

Value system is an individualistic concept and is greatly determined by one’s virtues or vices. People’s internal conception of what is good, useful, beneficial, desirable or important is entirely their prerogative. More often than not however, values are informed by aspirations, need for relevance, desire to make meaning out of life, want of material possessions and concerns about making ends meet (having food, drink, clothing, shelter etc).

For a Christian, it is expected that the Bible should majorly influence choices made (what is right or wrong) as will be ultimately reflected in actions taken. Jesus Christ recognized the importance of value system in informing our thoughts, words and actions. Little wonder then, He categorically stated in Matthew 6:24b; “…you CANNOT serve God and Mammon.

No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and Mammon” Matthew 6:24 NKJV

It’s an all or null situation, ….and understandably so. Except of course we are dealing with the ‘christian’  described in James 1:6 as ‘a wave of the sea driven and tossed by every wind” ; a man who is unstable, unsteady and undecided about his beliefs and value system.

“…for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.” James 1:6b NKJV

The double-minded man described in James 1:6b has his answer from the Lord in the next verse of same scripture…he should not expect to receive anything from The Lord!

The Lord Jesus Christ admonishes us to keep worry far from us. Do not worry about food, drink, clothes and any other drivers of our decisions and choices. The Lord takes care of the jobless birds of the air, feeds and nourishes them. He clothes (most beautifully) the lilies and grass of the field.

The way I see it, worry and faith seem to be at extreme ends of a spectrum for a Christian. If you have faith in the ability and willingness of The Lord to meet all your needs, you won’t worry and your value system is unlikely to be twisted from Christ’s expectations.

So have faith in God for your daily needs!
