When I opened my Bible this morning, I almost yelled ‘Oh no! not Lazarus again’. But it wasn’t too long after I began reading that it became clear that this story actually does have some interesting points I’d like to learn for myself and share with others.

Unlike Cain, a Christian has a new spirit (2 Corinthians 5:17) and can therefore determine what happens in his mind. He can rule over his mind by consistently feeding his spirit with the Word, that way his spirit has dominance over his mind. He can determine his thoughts (Philippians 4:8), and he can control how he reacts to his feelings (1 Corinthians 9:27).

Some Christians actually display foolishness in their decisions and choices. Many times, this happens following a failure to recognize and seek God’s face, His wisdom and counsel (as if to actually say ‘there is no God).

Light is for direction, discernment, enlightenment and revelation. Light makes things evident. Light as used in Matthew 5; 14-16, would also mean to be an example of Christian character and excellence, to be a trusted witness of God.

I wanted to weep again. Tears welled up in my eyes, I could barely contain myself enough to pick up my child before racing towards David. As I got to the car, there he was; and yes, he raised his hands and waved me again. Oh! That was the day I got my best ‘hi five’
