“He who continually goes forth weeping, Bearing seed for sowing, Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, Bringing his sheaves with him” Psalms 126:6 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/psa.126.6.NKJV
Part 1 of this blogpost series, was introductory, and we line listed 6 key points for this study;
- To ‘bring in sheaves’ sounds like an instruction requiring an action.
- To bring in sheaves, there must have been a field on which seeds were sown.
- Bringing in sheaves involves a process
- Bringing in sheaves involves work; of carrying a seed bag and planting same.
- Gathering, binding and pulling-in are involved also.
- Harvest and rejoicing occur in the time of bringing in sheaves.
To continue today, let’s consider again, the title of this blog post reads “It is time to bring in the sheaves”
Time is by dictionary definition “a point of time as measured in hours or minutes, usually with reference to midnight or noon.” It is also defined as “the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present and future regarded as a whole.”
The Bible provides 2 main descriptions of time.
1. As denoting a space of time, whether long or short, a succession of time, a duration of time.
2. As denoting a fixed or definite period, a season, an opportune or seasonable time, a due proportion, due measure.
So ‘time’ refers to the duration of the intervals and/or periods while ‘seasons’ refers to the characteristics of these periods.
Sheaves is the plural of sheaf, which is ” a bundle of grain stalks laid lengthways and together after reaping”
The Bible describes sheaf simply as something bound, particularly referring to grain. However, when we reference some scriptures where sheaves is mentioned, we see a relationship between sheaves and a field/vineyard, grain, reaping/harvest. We also see associated words such as; binding, gathering, labourers (Genesis 37:7, Judges 15:5, Ruth 2:16, Nehemiah 13:15, Deuteronomy 24:19).
So we can say that the ‘Time to Bring in the Sheaves‘ is a season characterized by reaping, gathering and binding grains (from one’s field or vineyard) into a harvest.
Questions:
Do we have fields/vineyards?
Did we plant seeds in them continually?
Were our seeds planted on good grounds and did we water them regularly?
Did planting these seeds require some sacrifice from us?
If we answer ‘yes’ to the above questions, then we can look forward to bringing in our harvest.
In the next part, we’ll begin to look at the characteristics of the season of bringing in sheaves.
Stay blessed & My love always.
